Volunteering to teach students about Financial Literacy.

Junior_AchievementWednesday, Oct. 08, 2008, at 2:50 pm

Junior Achievement (JA) prides itself on inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in the global economy by teaching hands-on curriculum that focuses on financial literacy, work readiness skills and entrepreneurship.

I am looking for volunteers that can get involved and help impact the 380,000 children expected to be reached by Junior Achievement this year.

There are several ways to get involved:

Volunteer in a local classroom and teach our curriculum to students K-12.
Traditional Classroom Visit – this consists of five to eight visits throughout the semester depending on the program/grade level
JA in a Day – this consists of a one day visit to the classroom for approximately 3 hrs.

The process of volunteering is very simple. I would meet with you in order to complete a 45 minute information session/training. Here we would provide more clarification on the programs we provide as well as get a program kit with them which includes EVERYTHING needed to teach the program to students. You would then reach out to the assigned teachers and plan the schedule for the semester. The prep time is very short as well.

I work with a lot of schools in the area that are still looking for volunteers for this fall. At this time I do not have the volunteer resources to fill all requests. I am reaching out to the community for help.
