Former Evanston resident dies in Michigan
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday for a former Evanston resident and avid marathoner who died last month.
Jerry J. Kaup, age 63, of Coloma, Mich., formerly of Evanston, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 9, in Saugatuck, Mich. He was born in Chicago on Nov. 18, 1948, the son of the late John J. and Mary M. Kaup.
Kaup was a successful businessman and marketing entrepreneur. He was an avid cyclist, runner, and traveler, touring the country with his RV and bicycle and competing in the Chicago Marathon. Relatives recall his enthusiasm for living, mischievous humor and practical wisdom.
He is survived by his children, Rebecca Kaup and Jeremy (Keri) Kaup; his brother, Greg (Linda) Kaup and sister, Christine (Parag) Madhani; and granddaughter, Anna.
Funeral services will be held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Road in Racine, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. All are invited to visit with the family beginning at 9:30 a.m. A celebration of his life will follow at Fountain Banquet Hall, 8505 Durand Ave. in Sturtevant, Wis.
