Evanston crime: Burglars hit three unlocked garages

Burglars broke into two homes and a car in Evanston, but found three garages unlocked. Those stories among the items in today's Evanston police daily crime bulletin.

Burglary

1200 Mulford

Someone took two Dell laptop computers, a Technics digital turntables stereo system and a nintendo Wii game system from an apartment in the 1200 block of Mulford. The incident occurred Thursday between 1 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

900 Madison

Someone took a Snapper lawn mower, a K2 white and blue mountain bike, a blue cruiser bike, a Schwinn kids trailer, a Bob Baby stroller, and two Toro/ Homelite weed trimmers from an unlocked garage in the 900 block of Madison Street Wednesday at 9 p.m.

800 Hinman

Someone took a Merlin mountain bike with red grips and a green seat from an unlocked garage in the 800 block of Hinman Avenue between 6 and 8 p.m.Wednesday

300 Lee

Someone damaged the rear driver's side window of a 2006 Nissan in the 300 block of Lee Street between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 8:10 a.m. Thursday.

2600 Sheridan

Someone broke into a home in the 2600 block of Sheridan Road between 2 and 3 a.m. Thursday and took a black Sony Vaio laptop computer, cash, a green leather wallet, a purse, and an iPhone.

2100 Wesley

Someone entered an unlocked garage in the 2100 block of Wesley Avenue Thursday at 10:13 p.m. It wasn't known whether they took anything.

Criminal damage to vehicle

600 Judson

Someone damaged the front driver's side window of a 2000 Honda in the 600 block of Judson Avenue between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10:15 p.m. Thursday.

900 Foster

Someone made a large dent on the right rear door of a 2008 Volkswagen parked at a business in the 900 block of Foster Street between 4 and 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Drugs

1643 Howard

Che Michael McKinney was arrested and charged for posession of a controlled substance on Wednesday at 10:10 p.m. at 1643 Howard Street. Court Date: 9 a.m., July 6.

Robbery

300 Howard

Two men demanded a victim's wallet, hit him in the face, and took his Chase ATM credit card and military ID in the 300 block of Howard Street between midnight and 1:20 a.m. June 16. The suspects are described as black males, one 6-foot-2-inches tall and 200 pounds, the other 5-foot-2-inches tall and 135 pounds.

Shots heard

1900 Emerson

A caller reported hearing shots fired at 12:37 a.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of Emerson Street. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Theft

900 Edgemere

Someone took a Ross bicycle from an unlocked yard of a home in the 900 block of Edgemere Court at 8 p.m. June 17.

500 Sheridan

Someone took an Arbor 36-inch "Long Board" skateboard left unattended in a park in the 500 block of Sheridan Square, between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

900 Davis

Someone took a Motiv bicycle that was locked at a bike rack in the 900 block of Davis Street sometime between 4:30 p.m. Monday and 8:10 a.m. Thursday.

2300 Noyes

Someone took medicine from an apartment in the 2300 block of Noyes Court sometime between June 22 and Wednesday.

Traffic

1322 Chicago

Robert Ray Lass, 67, of 1537 W. Farwell in Chicago, was arrested at 1322 Chicago Avenue and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court at 9 a.m. July 26.
