City offers emergency training to volunteers

Evanston's Fire and Life Safety Services Departmen will hold a training class for the Community Emergency Response Team later this month.

The CERT progam educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may affect Evanston. CERT participans receive training in basic disaster response skills including fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations.

The training session will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, and Sunday, Oct. 21, in the Parasol Room at the Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave.
