EVANSTON CRIME: Shots heard near ETHS early Saturday
Gunshots were reported in the vicinity of Dodge Avenue and Church Street, near Evanston Township High School, at 4 a.m. Saturday. Also, several car breakins were reported in the 500 block of Kedzie Street. These and other stories in today's daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.
Assault
Battery
Quincy Terrel Daughtery, 29, of 1142 Oak Ave., was arrested at 1410 Chicago Ave. at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and charged with simple battery. He is due in court on Nov. 9 at 9 a.m.
Malcolm J. Dunn, 25, of 304 Sherman Ave., was arrested at his home at 8:40 a.m. Friday and charged with aggravated domestic battery. He is due in court on Oct. 17 at 9 a.m.
Darius D. Knox, 19, of 1142 Florence Ave., was arrested at 1454 Elmwood Ave. at 3:20 a.m. Sept. 17 and charged with domestic battery. He is due in court on Oct. 3 at 9:30 a.m.
Charles M. Tinch, 53, of 2117 Church St., was arrested at his home at 10:10 p.m. Saturday and charged with domestic battery. He is due in court on Oct. 10 at 9:30 a.m.
Burglary
A 2008 Subaru was entered via the front passenger window between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Friday in an apartment parking lot in the 500 block of Kedzie Street. Cash was reported missing.
Someone broke the drivers side window of a 2009 Scion in an apartment parking lot in the 500 block of Kedzie Street between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Friday and stole a GPS unit.
Someone ransacked the interior of a 2008 Honda parked on the street in the 900 block of Hinman Avenue between 8:30 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. Saturday and stole a tool kit, an iPod adapter cord, and a canvas bag containing jumper cables.
A GPS unit was stolen from an unlocked 2004 Lexus parked in the driveway of a home in the 2700 block of Woodbine Avenue between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
An unlocked door led to the burglary of a home in the 1000 block of Garnett Place between 3:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Thursday. A laptop computer was reported missing.
A video game unit was reported stolen from an unlocked apartment in the 1100 block of Garnett Place between 2 a.m. and 9 a.m. Thursday.
Criminal damage to vehicle
Someone broke the passenger window of a 2012 Honda in the garage of a home in the 500 block of Kedzie Street between 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday. Nothing was reported missing.
Someone punched and shattered the window of a bus near McDaniel Avenue and Dempster Street around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. Suspect is a 5-foot-11-inch-tall black male weighing 140 pounds.
Someone broke the rear window of a 1997 Plymouth parked on the street in the 3200 block of Harrison Street between 7 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday. Nothing was reported missing.
A windshield was cracked on a 1993 Volkwagen in the alley of the 200 block of Callan Avenue at 5:13 p.m. Friday.
All the windows of a 1993 Dodge parked on the street in the 1100 block of Hull Terrace were shattered with a cement block around 10:40 p.m. Sunday. Suspect is a black female.
Drugs
Ricky G. Arceneaux, 53, of 2224 Emerson St., was arrested at Emerson Street and McCormick Boulevard at 9:29 p.m. Saturday and was charged with possessing drug paraphernalia. He is due in court on Oct. 18 at 9 a.m.
Benjamin Franklin Brown, 54, of 1932 Emerson St., was arrested at 1722 Brown Ave. at 9:14 p.m. Thursday and charged with possession of a controlled substance. He is due in court on Oct. 31 at 9 a.m.
Graffiti
A garage was defaced with graffiti in the 1100 block of Madison Street between 11:40 a.m. Sept. 16 and 12:12 a.m. Sept. 22.
Other
Joshua P. Segovia, 30, of 446 W. Surf, Chicago, was arrested at 1511 Elmwood Ave. at 3:47 p.m. Saturday and was charged with a criminal offense. He is due in court on Oct. 18 at 9 a.m.
Larry Tramell Darnell Wells, 20, of 1801 Madison St., was arrested at his home on Sept. 20 at 6:15 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct. He is due in court on Oct. 30 at 9 a.m.
Shots heard
Gunshots were reported in the vicinity of Evanston Township High School at Dodge Avenue and Church Street at 4 a.m. Saturday. Police checked the area but found nothing of note.
Theft
A bicycle locked to a tree in the 2000 block of Howard Street was stolen between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday.
A bicycle unlocked in the stairwell of an apartment building in the 800 block of Main Street was stolen around 11 a.m. Saturday.
A locked bicycle in the 600 block of Lake Street was stolen between 2 p.m. Thursday and 12:30 p.m. Friday.
A wallet was taken from a purse at a currency exchange in the 1800 block of Dempster Street between 11:37 a.m. and 12:22 p.m. Friday.
Someone stole medicine from the CVS Pharmacy at 3300 Central Street around 10:20 a.m. Saturday. Suspects are two black males about 5-feet-3-inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds.
A wallet was taken from a purse at a university building in the 1800 block of Sheridan Road between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Thursday. Suspect is a black male.
A package containing paintings was taken from the lobby of an apartment/condo building in the 2200 block of Ridge Avenue between 11 a.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
A can of compressed air was stolen from a drugstore in the 100 block of Asbury Avenue at 3:05 a.m. Sunday. Suspect was a 6-foot-tall white male.
A victim left her bike on the sidewalk while she was at a garage sale in the 200 block of Custer Avenue at 3:48 p.m. Saturday, and it was stolen. Suspect is a 5-foot-8-inch-tall black male.
Traffic
Michael Charles Byrne, 36, of 1364 W. Ohio St., Chicago, was arrested at 800 Hinman Ave. at 2:54 p.m. Thursday and charged with a traffic violation. Court is set for Nov. 14 at 10:30 a.m.
Nancy Campos, 25, of 6500 N. Fairfield, Chicago, was arrested at 3015 Golf Road at 7:19 p.m. Saturday and charged with a traffic violation. Court is set for Oct. 30 at 9 a.m.
Vincent Edward Hale, 49, of Hanover Park, was arrested at 1108 Dodge Ave. at 11:05 a.m. Friday and charged with a traffic violation. Court is set for Oct. 4 at 9 a.m.
Janet Lee Harris, 44, of Palatine, was arrested at 1500 Oakton St. at 8:30 a.m. Friday and charged with a traffic violation. Court is set for Nov. 8 at 10:30 a.m.
