EVANSTON CRIME: Pickpocket on the CTA
A pickpocketing occurred at the Main Street CTA station in Evanston Thursday. Also, a burglar was seen trying to pry open the window of a home on Oak Avenue. These and other stories are in today's daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.
Battery
Burglary
A burglar was seen attempting to pry open a window at a home in the 1200 block of Oak Avenue at 1:17 a.m. Thursday. Suspect is a 200-pound black male.
Someone entered an unlocked 2005 Subaru in an apartment parking lot in the 2100 block of Sherman Avenue between 1 p.m. and midnight Wednesday and took a backpack and a laptop computer.
Drugs
Dennis Maurice Alexander, 55, address unknown, was arrested at Emerson Street and Dodge Avenue at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday and charged with possessing drug paraphernalia. He is due in court on Oct. 9 at 10:30 a.m.
Graffiti
A garage of a home in the 1500 block of Greenwood Street was marred by graffiti between 9:04 a.m. and 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Other
Larry Tramell Wells, 20, of 1805 Madison St., was arrested at 1801 Madison St. at 6:15 p.m. Thursday and charged with disorderly conduct. He is due in court on Oct. 30 at 9 a.m.
Theft
An air compressor, an electric plumbing rodder, and other tools were stolen from a restaurant in the 500 block of Main Street at 8 a.m. Sept. 13.
An ID card was stolen by a pickpocket at the Main Street CTA station at 6:57 p.m. Thursday. Suspect is a 5-foot-7-inch-tall black male weighing 170 pounds.
A suspect identified as a 6-foot-tall black male weighing 240 pounds took money from his victim's hand near Florence Avenue and Crain Street at 3:55 p.m. Thursday.
A car part was removed from a 2006 Ford in a parking lot in the 1200 block of Hartrey Avenue between 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
A womens bicycle that was locked to a bike rack in the storage room of an apartment in the 2200 block of Maple Avenue was stolen between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 7:50 a.m. Thursday.
Kurt Garbutt, 23, of 1724 W. Juneway Terrace, Chicago, was arrested at 1000 Chicago Avenue at 10 a.m. Thursday and charged with retail theft. He is due in court on Sept. 27 at 9 a.m.

Rafael Medina, 33, of 6071 N. Paulina, Chicago, was arrested at 1407 Main St. at 4:44 p.m. Wednesday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Nov. 9 at 9 a.m.
Jose G. Nunez, 36, of 1623 W. Chase, Chicago, was arrested at 1461 Ridge Ave. at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Oct. 11 at 10:30 a.m.
