EVANSTON CRIME: 2 bikes stolen on Benson
Two locked bicycles were stolen from bike racks this week in the 1700 block of Benson Avenue. These and other stories in today's daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.
Battery
Darius Darnell Knox, 19, of 1142 Florence Ave., was arrested at 1454 Elmwood Ave. at 3:20 p.m. Monday and charged with domestic battery. He is due in court on Oct. 3 at 9:30 a.m.
Burglary
Someone stole a cell phone out of a 2007 Freightliner truck parked in the alley in the 600 block of Howard Street shortly before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Suspect is a 5-foot-10-inch-tall black male.
Criminal damage to vehicle
A 2008 GMC parked on the street in the 2100 block of Cleveland Street sustained a scratch on the rear passenger door between 6 a.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Tuesday. Suspect is a 5-foot-5-inch-tall black female weighing 165 pounds.
A 2011 Nissan sustained a scratched door and punctured tire on the street in the 1400 block of Brummel Street between 9 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday.
Graffiti
Graffiti was discovered on a mailbox at Lake Street and Hinman Avenue at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday.
Graffiti was discovered on a building in the 2300 block of Sherman Avenue at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday.
Other
Randall T. Mercer, 32, of 735 Grey Ave., was arrested at 1701 Main St. at 4:11 p.m. Tuesday and charged with disorderly conduct. He is due in court on Oct. 18 at 9 a.m.
Patricia Ann Witt, 73, of 2537 Prairie Ave., was arrested at 2500 Prairie Ave. at 1:45 p.m. Monday on violation of an order of protection. She is due in court on Oct. 9 at 1:30 p.m.
Shots heard
A suspect identified as a black male flashed a gun at a victim near Dodge Avenue and Dempster Street at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday.
Theft
A cell phone, cash, and a change purse were stolen from a shopping cart in a business parking lot in the 2400 block of Howard Street between 9:29 p.m. and 9:42 p.m. Tuesday. Suspect is an Asian female.
An unlocked mens bicycle was stolen from the yard of a home in the 1900 block of Lee Street between 2 a.m. Sept. 12 and noon Saturday.
A 22-speed bicycle locked to a bike rack in the 1700 block of Benson Avenue was stolen between 6:25 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. Monday.
A bicycle locked to a bike rack was stolen in the 1700 block of Benson Avenue between 11 p.m. Monday and 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Traffic
Josias Kollo, 30, of 1111 S. Laflin, Chicago, was arrested at 739 Howard St. at 9:14 a.m. Tuesday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Oct. 11 at 9 a.m.
