EVANSTON CRIME: Computer, guns, ammo stolen on Oak

Two computers, two handguns, and ammunition were among items taken in a burglary Wednesday of a condominium in the 1700 block of Oak Avenue. This and other stories in today's daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

Assault

1700 Sherman

An assault was reported in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Suspect is a 5-foot-8-inch-tall black male weighing 160 pounds.

Burglary

1800 Howard

Someone broke into a 2008 Ford through an open window in an alley in the 1800 block of Howard Street at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday and stole cash and a credit card. Suspect is a black male.

1100 South Boulevard

Someone stole a GPS unit from a 2002 Honda parked unlocked in the 1100 block of South Boulevard between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. Wednesday.

1400 Elmwood

A bicycle was stolen from an unlocked garage of a home in the 1400 block of Elmwood Avenue between 8 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

2700 Ridge

A bicycle was stolen from an unlocked garage at a home in the 2700 block of Ridge Avenue between 8 p.m. Monday and noon Wednesday.

1700 Oak

Someone pryed open the front door of a condominium in the 1700 block of Oak Avenue between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and stole two computers, cash, two handguns, ammunition, a fire safe, keys, and passport documents.

1800 Foster

Someone entered a vehicle through an open window on the street in the 1800 block of Foster Street around noon Wednesday and stole a wallet and a cell phone. Suspect is a black male.

600 Case

A laptop computer was stolen from an apartment in the 600 block of Case Plaza between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Drugs

1454 Elmwood

Edwin L. Thomas, 46, of 1738 Darrow Ave., was arrested at 1454 Elmwood Ave. at 2 p.m. Monday and charged with possession of a controlled substance. He is due in court on Sept. 11 at 9 a.m.

Graffiti

1400 Chicago

Graffiti was discovered at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday in a park in the 1400 block of Chicago Avenue.

Other

1454 Elmwood

Jerry Lee Kennedy, 57, of 1738 Darrow Ave., was arrested at 1454 Elmwood Ave. at 7 p.m. Wednesday and charged with having no firearm owners identification card. He is due in court on Sept. 25 at 10:30 a.m.

Theft

1117 Howard

Bijon Norman Griffith, 28, of 2422 Church St., was arrested at 1117 Howard St. at 6:11 p.m. Wednesday and charged with theft of a backpack from an unlocked locker at the McGaw YMCA on Grove Street. He is due in court on Oct. 9 at 9 a.m.

1100 Chicago

Someone stole alcohol products from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. Suspect is a 5-foot-8-inch-tall black male weighing 140 pounds.

2100 Dempster

A white and red 2012 Ford truck with "DC 4036G" painted on the sides was stolen from a business parking lot in the 2100 block of Dempster Street at 1:32 p.m. Wednesday.

1800 Sherman

Someone stole a locked mens mountain bike from a parking lot in the 1800 block of Sherman Avenue at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.

1100 Dobson

A mountain bike was stolen from the yard of a home in the 1100 block of Dobson Street shortly after 4 p.m. Friday.

200 Custer

A bicycle with Grateful Dead stickers on it was stolen from the yard of a home in the 200 block of Custer Avenue around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

700 Howard

A purse and a cell phone left unattended in a laundromat in the 700 block of Howard Street was stolen between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tuesday. Suspects are a 5-foot-8-inch-tall black male weighing 150 pounds and a 5-foot-tall black female weighing 100 pounds.

Traffic

100 Custer

Dameon Bernard Graves, 27, of 1216 Fowler Ave., and Greg Anthony McCoy, 27, of Addison, were arrested at 100 Custer Ave. at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday and charged with possessing open alcohol. They are due in court on Sept. 28 at 9 a.m.

2757 Crawford

Mark Katrich, 20, of 1153 Harms Road, Glenview, was arrested at 2757 Crawford Ave. at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday and charged with driving under the influence. He is due in court on Sept. 25 at 10:30 a.m.
