EVANSTON CRIME: Big haul for burglar on Hovland
A number of tools and construction equipment items were stolen from a home in the 1800 block of Hovland Court. Also, thieves hit two more Toyotas for their catalytic converters. These and other stories in today's daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.
Burglary
Somone cut a padlock off the door to a home in the 1800 block of Hovland Court between 4:10 p.m. Tuesday and 7:15 a.m. Wednesday and made off with copper tubing, four extension cords, and several tools and construction equipment items.
Graffiti
Graffiti was discovered on the street near Elmwood Avenue and Reba Place at 10:04 a.m. Wednesday.
Other
Bradley Leon Barrett, 22, of 1731 Leland Ave., was arrested at 1711 Grey Ave. at 4:28 p.m. Wednesday and charged with possession of open alcohol on the public way. He is due in court on Sept. 28 at 9 a.m.
Shots heard
Gunshots were heard near Dodge Avenue and Lyons Street at 2:24 a.m. Thursday. Police checked the area but found nothing suspicious.
Theft
A mens mountain bike was stolen from an apartment storage locker in the 2200 block of Maple Avenue between Aug. 14 and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Three chairs, an umbrella, and two shovels left unattended on the sidewalk in the 2000 block of Orrington Avenue were stolen shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Someone stole a catalytic converter from a 2000 Toyota and attempted to remove the catalytic converter from a 1999 Toyota in an apartment parking lot in the 600 block of Case Plaza at 4:53 a.m. Thursday. Suspect is a 5-foot-8-inch-tall black male weighing 200 pounds.
Traffic
Ulises Vilchis Espina, 35, of Waukegan, was arrested at 3200 Central St. at 9:23 a.m. Tuesday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Sept. 18 at 10:30 a.m.
Eun Hong-Ji, 37, of Schaumburg, was arrested at 400 Asbury Ave. at 1:37 p.m. Tuesday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Sept. 21 at 10:30 a.m.
Michael Anthony Thomas, 53, of 1706 Madison St., was arrested at 840 Dodge Ave. at 4:01 p.m. Wednesday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Oct. 9 at 10:30 a.m.
