EVANSTON CRIME: Denver boot...and car...disappear
Police attached a Denver boot to a 2004 Hyundai in the 300 block of Callan Avenue Tuesday morning. When they returned the next day, the car and the boot were gone. Also, police are conducting an arson investigation of a fire on the playground of Willard School. These are among the stories in today's daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.
Arson investigation
Assault
Alishia Nicole Pointer, 21, of 1421 Grey Ave., was arrested at her home at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday and charged with aggravated assault by driving her car toward her victim. She is due in court on Sept. 18 at 9 a.m.
Battery
Someone sprayed pepper spray at a victim at a hair treatment establishment in the 1900 block of Howard Street at 11:51 a.m. Wednesday. Suspect is a 5-foot-3-inch-tall black female weighing 300 pounds.
Kevin Michael Taylor, 25, of 833 N. Massasoit Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 1700 Hovland Court at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday and charged with domestic battery. He is due in court on Aug. 15 at 9 a.m.
Burglary
Scratches to the metal door knob was evidence of an attempted breakin to an apartment in the 800 block of Oakton Street between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Pry marks on the rear door indicated that someone attempted to enter a home in the 800 block of Roslyn Place shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Someone entered a 1992 BMW in the 2000 block of Dewey Avenue via an unlocked door between 9:45 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Criminal damage to vehicle
Someone slashed all four tires of a 1999 Chrysler in the 1400 block of Grey Avenue between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 1 a.m. Wednesday. Suspect is a 5-foot-3-inch-tall black female weighing 160 pounds.
Theft
Anthony D. Foster, 21, of 2018 Wesley Ave., was arrested at 1703 Orrington Ave. at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday and charged with stealing money from the tip jar of a business in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue. He is due in court on Sept. 5 at 9 a.m.
A locked mens bicycle was stolen from an alley in the 1800 block of Howard Street between 12:08 p.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday.
A Denver boot that had been attached to a 2004 Hyundai was taken, along with the vehicle, from the 300 block of Callan Avenue between 8:55 a.m. Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Suspect is a 5-foot-3-inch-tall black female weighing 115 pounds.
Traffic
Joseph Adrian Oliphant, 27, of 2121 Sheridan Road, was arrested at 1139 Chicago Ave. at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Sept. 18 at 9 a.m.
