Burglars entered a home through an unlocked rear door and made off with a laptop computer, jewelry, clothes, a cell phone, and other items around lunchtime Wednesday in the 1700 block of Oakton Street. This and other stories in today's daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.
Burglary
An unlocked 2005 Toyota parked on the street in the 2100 block of Dobson Street yielded cash, a car seat, and miscellanous papers for a burglar between 7 p..m. Wednesday and 4:25 a.m. Thursday.
A 2003 Honda and a 2007 Toyota were entered between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. Missing was cash, a GPS unit, and a folding pocket knife.
Burglars stole a mountain bike, a box of shoes, and a suitcase from the garage of a home in the 1100 block of Foster Street between 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Suspect is a 5-foot-8-inch-tall black male.
Someone climbed through an unlocked kitchen window of an apartment in the 900 block of Austin Street between 7:15 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday and stole a video game system. Suspects include a 5-foot-10-inch-tall black male weighing 150 pounds and a 5-foot-3-inch-tall black female weighing 130 pounds.
Someone damaged the window of a 2005 Chrysler to gain entry at an apartment parking lot in the 600 block of Hull Terrace shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday and stole a GPS unit. Suspect is a 6-foot-tall white male weighing 190 pounds.
Shots heard
Gunshots were reported in the 1700 block of Monroe Street between 10:40 a.m. and 11 a.m. Wednesday. Police checked the area but found nothing.
Theft
Three money orders were taken from the visor of a vehicle in the 1800 block of Dempster Street between noon and 3:30 p.m. on July 25. Suspect is a 5-foot-9-inch-tall black male weighing 200 pounds.
A 10-speed bike locked to a bike rack in the 600 block of South Boulevard was stolen Wednesday shortly before 7 p.m.
A black iPod was taken from a table near Elmwood Avenue and Greenleaf Street around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Suspect is a 5-foot-7-inch-tall black male weighing 140 pounds.
A 2000 Pontiac Sunfire was stolen from a business parking lot near Dempster Street and Hartrey Avenue at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday. The red two-door vehicle with a black top bears a license tag number of L455339.
A black male is a suspect in the theft of a cell phone near the intersection of Noyes Street and Sherman Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Joshua M. Krawczyk, 32, of 2115 W. Birchwood, Chicago, was arrested at 1454 Elmwood Ave. at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday and charged with theft. He is due in court on Aug. 28 at 9 a.m.
Someone stole a bicycle from the street in the 400 block of Sherman Avenue between noon July 13 and 4:20 p.m. Friday.
Traffic
Theodore Michael Kathrein, 23, of 705 Milburn St., was arrested at Lee Street and Sheridan Road at 1:57 p.m. Tuesday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Sept. 5 at 1:30 p.m.
Adam Jacob Tuft, 28, of 737 Dobson St., was arrested at 140 Chicago Ave. at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday and charged with driving under the influence. He is due in court on Aug. 21 at 10:30 a.m.
