Evanston crime: Stolen bikes, graffiti mar weekend

Several bikes were stolen and a number of places were marred by graffiti over the weekend in Evanston. These and other stories are in today's daily crime report from Evanston police.

Assault

800 Dodge

Someone pointed a weapon at a citizen in a business parking lot in the 800 block of Dodge Avenue around 11 p.m. Saturday. Suspect is a 5-foot-6-inch-tall black male weighing 150 pounds.

847 Dodge

Sem Adrien, 25, of 1717 McDaniel St., was arrested at 847 Dodge Avenue at 11 p.m. Saturday and charged with aggravated assault. He is due in court on Aug. 21 at 9 a.m.

Battery

Crain at Maple

Someone grabbed a victim's arms at Crain Street and Maple Avenue shortly after midnight July 5. Suspect is an Hispanic male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds.

300 Ridge

An offender pushed his victim against a wall in an apartment/condo common area in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue at 5:45 p.m. Friday.

1812 Dodge

Hartford Walls, 54, of 1826 Dodge Ave., was arrested at 1812 Dodge Ave. at 5:16 p.m. Saturday and charged with domestic battery. He is due in court on July 18 at 9:30 a.m.

1577 Maple

Darius Shavazz Williams, 18, of 2410 Bradley Place, was arrested at 1577 Maple Ave. at 10:29 p.m. Saturday and charged with battery to a police officer. He is due in court on Aug. 28 at 9 a.m.

Burglary

500 Sheridan

A lawnmower and other garden implements were stolen from a garage in the 500 block of Sheridan Road between 10:41 a.m. Saturday and 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Lee at Ridge

Cash was taken from an unlocked 2005 Mazda parked on the street near Lee Street and Ridge Avenue between 9:58 p.m. and 10:26 p.m. Saturday. Suspect is a black male.

5500 Callan

Someone broke the driver's side window of a 1998 Plymouth in the 5500 block of Callan Avenue and took a GPS unit.

2400 Lee

Someone removed a basement window in an apparent attempt to gain entry to a home in the 2400 block of Lee Street between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Wednesday.

2500 Ashland

Someone entered a school in the 2500 block of Ashland Avenue between 4 p.m. Thursday and 1:50 p.m. Sunday and stole a camera and photo equipment.

1100 Howard

Someone damaged the front glass door of a business in the 1100 block of Howard Street between 6 p..m. Saturday and 4:58 a.m. Sunday and stole a cell phone.

Criminal damage to property

1924 Sherman

Ian Edward Hansen, 18, of 9520 Lincolnwood Drive, Skokie, was arrested at 1924 Sherman Ave. at 2:34 a.m. Saturday and charged with criminal damage to property. He is due in court on July 25 at 9:30 a.m.

Criminal damage to vehicle

2100 Dewey

Someone damaged the hood of a 2012 Kia parked on the street in the 2100 block of Dewey Avenue around 11:40 p.m. Friday. Suspect is a black male.

Criminal trespass

1112 Hartrey

Howard C. Griffin, 44, of 1814 Hartrey Ave., was arrested at 1112 Hartrey Ave. at 10:40 p.m. Thursday and charged with criminal trespass of a residence. He is due in court on Aug. 2 at 9 a.m.

Drugs

Chicago at Church

Brittany Tyler Featherling, 19, of 1211 S. Prairie Dr., Chicago, was arrested at Chicago Avenue and Church Street at 2:05 a.m. Saturday and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. She is due in court on Aug. 23 at 9 a.m.

3400 Simpson

Luis Daniel Gomez, 25, of 2125 Emerson St., was arrested at 3400 Simpson St. at 8:31 a.m. Friday and charged with possession of cannabis. He is due in court on Aug. 9 at 9 a.m.

Graffiti

700 Custer

Graffiti was discovered on a garage in the 700 block of Custer Avenue at 2:45 p.m. Saturday.

600 Forest

Someone marred a garage in the 600 block of Forest Avenue between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday.

1200 Lake Shore

Someone defaced a building in the 1200 block of Lake Shore Boulevard between 9 p.m. Friday and 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

100 Burnham

Someone applied graffiti to a home in the 100 block of Burnham Place between 9 p.m. Friday and 8:27 a.m. Saturday.

Other

1454 Elmwood

Regina Latrina Cowley, 42, of 818 Crain St., was arrested at 1454 Elmwood Ave. at 4:52 p.m. Thursday and charged with endangering the life and health of a child. She is due in court on July 31 at 10:30 a.m.

3400 Simpson

Eduardo Alonso Cruz, 28, of 2013 Dodge Ave., was arrested at 3400 Simpson St. at 8:41 p.m. Friday and charged with unlawful use of a weapon. He is due in court on July 27 at 9 a.m.

2100 Green Bay

Francisco Javier Garcia, 49, address unknown, was arrested at 2100 Green Bay Road at 5:44 p.m. Saturday and charged with possession of an open container on a public way. He is due in court on Aug. 9 at 9 a.m.

1900 Dodge

Eduardo Santana, 35, of 9133 Lawler, Skokie, was arrested at 1900 Dodge Ave. at 9:58 a.m. Friday and charged with possession of stolen property. He is due in court on July 26 at 1:30 p.m.

Shots heard

1900 Howard

Gunshots were reported at 12:42 p.m. Sunday in the 1900 block of Howard Street. Police checked the area but found nothing amiss.

2000 Emerson

Gunshots were heard in the 2000 block of Emerson Street around 10:53 p.m. Friday. Police checked the area but found nothing amiss.

2000 Brown

Gunshots were heard in the 2000 block of Brown Avenue around 9:25 p.m. Saturday. Police checked the area but found nothing amiss.

1400 Church

Gunshots were heard in the 1400 block of Church Street around 11:15 p.m. Saturday. Police checked the area but found nothing amiss.

Theft

400 Dodge

Three locked bicycles were stolen from a yard in the 400 block of Dodge Avenue between 4:42 p.m. Thursday and midnight Friday.

2100 Brummel

Two unlocked bicycles were stolen from a yard in the 2100 block of Brummel Street between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday.

100 Asbury

A cell phone was taken off the table in a restaurant in the 100 block of Asbury Avenue between 1:10 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Suspect is a 6-foot-tall black male weighing 220 pounds.

1400 Madison

An unlocked bicycle was stolen from a yard in the 1400 block of Madison Street around 4:15 p.m. Sunday.

2300 Howard

A cell phone was stolen from a business in the 2300 block of Howard Street at 5:48 p.m. Sunday. Suspects include two black females, one of which was described as being 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighing 200 pounds.

2400 Howard

Alcoholic products were stolen from a grocery store in the 2400 block of Howard Street at 9:45 a.m. Friday. Suspect is 6-foot-3-inch-tall black male weighing 180 pounds.

1000 Dempster

A gold wedding ring was taken off the counter at a home in the 1000 block of Dempster Street between 9 p.m. Thursday and noon Friday. Suspects include three males.

1200 Forest

A copper downspout was removed from the rear of a garage in the 1200 block of Forest Avenue between 10 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.

1600 Benson

Someone left a paisley print and a purse on the floor of a CTA train near 1600 Benson Ave. at about 5 p.m. Friday.

1500 Oak

Someone took a wheel and tire off a bicycle locked to a bike rack in the 1500 block of Oak Avenue between 2 p.m. Friday and 3:45 p.m. Saturday.

100 Asbury

Food was stolen from a drug store in the 100 block of Asbury Avenue shortly after noon on Friday. Suspect is a 5-foot-8-inch-tall black female weighing 250 pounds.

100 Asbury

Medicine was stolen from a drug store in the 100 block of Asbury Avenue at 2:54 a.m. Friday. Suspect is a 6-foot-1-inch-tall black male weighing 185 pounds.

101 Asbury

Vincent Earl Johnson, 43, of 2121 Darrow Ave., was arrested at 101 Asbury Ave. at 3 a.m. Friday and charged with retail theft. He is due in court on July 31 at 9 a.m.

Traffic

1618 Orrington

David M. Pufundt, 32, of 3649 N. Nora, Chicago, was arrested at 1618 Orrington Ave. at 6:35 p.m. Saturday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Aug. 21 at 9 a.m.

Lake at Maple

Samuel Steven Stevens, 41, of 1730 Sherman Ave., was arrested at Lake Street and Maple Avenue at 12:25 p.m. Thursday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Aug. 2 at 1:30 p.m.
