A caller reported hearing shots fired in the 2300 block of Asbury Avenue at 2:30 a.m. this morning. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Leo Mark Steele, 59, of 1512 Brummel in Evanston, was arrested at the Home Depot at 2201 Oakton St. at 1:45 p.m. Thursday and charged with steeling batteries. He's due in court at 9 a.m. on Nov. 14.

Roy Norman Baptist, 66, of 1323 Chancellor St., was arrested at 1431 Ridge Ave. at 1:44 a.m. this morning and charged with driving under the influence. He's due in court at 9 a.m. on Nov. 28.

Devane Wil Gaddy, 19, of 635 Sherman Ave., was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at 1922 Sheridan Road and charged with a traffic violation. He's due in court at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 6.

Vanessa Filomena Verzillo, 28, of 2150 W. Devon in Chicago, was arrested at 2548 Green Bay Road at 6:05 p.m. Thursday and charged with a traffic violation. She's due in court at 9 a.m. on Dec. 5.
