Car crashes into retaining wall

A car crashed into a retaining wall on McCormick Boulevard at Green Bay Road about 11:30 this morning.

Northbound traffic on Green Bay is being diverted onto Noyes Street while police traffic officers complete their  investigation. A crew from North Shore Towing was standing by to clear away the wreck.

Update: 12:32 p.m.: Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott says the driver, a 16-year-old girl from Skokie, may have been despondent and intentionally crashed the car into the wall that separates Green Bay Road from the Metra commuter rail tracks.

Update 12:45 p.m.: Evanston Fire Division Chief Dwight Hohl says paramedics on the scene report that the driver suffered a fractured right knee in the accident, but had gotten out of the car and was able to talk to them before being taken to the hospital.
