Anti-violence walk in memory of murder victim

Dozens of people, mostly high school classmates of murder victim Dajae Coleman, walked Saturday night from Evanston Township High School to the makeshift memorial on Church Street where he was shot and killed a week earlier.

The vigil, dubbed "Light Up Evanston" by its organizers, capped a day that included the funeral for the 14-year-old high school freshman and basketball player that drew perhaps 2,000 people to the First Church of God Christian Life Center.

Vigil participants left scribbled messages on large sheets of orange paper wrapped around trees at the shooting scene. One message read simply, "Gone, but never forgotten."
