Evanston police issued 88 citations for failure to wear a seat belt and 21 for using a cell phone while driving during the Labor Day holiday traffic enforcement campaign.
Police say they also made two arrests for driving under the influence and issued nine citations for failure to have insurnace, three for child restraint violations and 30 for various other traffic violations.
Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this nationwide effort funded by federal traffic safety grants, which ran from Aug. 17 through Labor Day.
