Cabbie robbed by four teens

Evanston police say a cab driver who picked up four teenagers on Monroe Street was robbed early this morning.

Police Cmdr. Diane Davis says the cab driver picked up the teens, who appeared to be between 14 and 17 years of age, in the 1600 block of Monroe Street at 3:14 a.m.

He was asked to take them to the 6000 block of Kenmore Avenue in Chicago, but when they reached the 400 block of Asbury Avenue in Evanston, one passenger placed what felt like a gun or knife to the driver's neck, while another demanded his money.

The driver handed over $120 and the teens fled from the car.
