Man dies in plunge from Evanston parking garage

Evanston police say a man apparently jumped from the roof of the Sherman Plaza parking garage about 3:30 this morning.

Police, responding to a call of a man down on the Benson Avenue side of the garage, were told by a witness who'd been waiting for a bus across the street at the CTA station that the man had jumped from the roof.

Fire Department paramedics called to the scene determined that the man was deceased.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The incident is being investigated by police and eviewed by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
