Crime: Jelly bean thief strikes downtown
Someone stole a jar of jelly beans from a table on a downtown sidewalk Sunday, and several burglars and thieves found doors, windows and lockers unlocked in Evanston over the past few days. Details on the just-released Daily Crime Bulletin from Monday.

Battery
Two men beat a person in James Park at 7:58 p.m. on Friday. The suspects were described as Hispanic males, about 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds.
Two men beat a person at Main Street and Sherman Avenue at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The assailants were described as black males.
A victim reported being beaten by a Hispanic female in the 800 block of Main Street at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday.
Alberta Reid, 28, of 7301 N. Hamilton in Chicago, was arrested at 1720 Dobson St. on Friday at 8:35 p.m. and charged with domestic battery in an incident that also saw the hood of a 2000 Chrysler scratched. She's scheduled to appear in court at 9:30 a.m. on May 4.
A person reported being beaten in the 2200 block of Ashland Avenue at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Burglary
Someone tried to break into an apartment in the 500 block of Michigan Avenue by slashing a window screen at 10:21 p.m. on Saturday.
Someone stole cash from a condominium in the 600 block of Hinman Avenue between midnight ant 9 a.m. on Sunday after breaking in through an unlocked kitchen window.
Someone stole a purse and cash, an iPhone cell phone and personal items from an unlocked 1997 Ford in the parking lot of the Evanston Plaza Shopping Center at 10 p.m. on Friday.
Someone stole a laptop computer, a flat screen television and a 1/2 carat diamond ring from a home in the 2200 block of Foster Street after entering through an unlocked rear door sometime between 7:15 a.m. on 11:30 p.m. on Friday.
Someone stole a small black laptop computer, a black Xbox gaming system and Kinect video games from an apartment in the 1800 block of Laurel Avenue after entering through an unlocked kitchen window sometime between 9 a.m. on Saturday and 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Someone stole a pink wallet and its contents from an apartment in the 2000 block of Darrow Avenue between 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday and 3:29 a.m. on Friday after entering through a broken rear window. The thief was described as a 5-foot-7-inch tall black female weighing 150 pounds.
Criminal damage to property
Someone broke the side door of a home in the 1800 block of Monroe Street at 11:46 p.m. on Thursday.
Criminal damage to vehicle
Someone broke the left passenger window of a 2005 Chevrolet in the parking lot of an apartment building in the 900 block of Elmwood Avenue between 10 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Drugs
Willie James Jackson, 53, of 1458 Chicago Ave., was arrested at 915 Davis St. at 11:34 p.m. on Thursday and charged with possession of a controlled substance. He's to appear in court at 9 a.m. on May 12.
Andre Xavier Laden, 18, of 716 Reba Place, was arrested at 1419 Dodge Ave. at 11:45 p.m. on Friday and charged with possession of 30 grams or less of cannabis. He's to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. on May 17.
Two Chicago men --- Luis Angel Rivera, 21, of 7344 N. Winchester, and Charles J. Templin, 19, of 7235 N. Hamilton -- were arrested at 2450 Main St. at 8:46 p.m. on Thursday and charged with possession of a controlled substance. They're both to appear in court at 9 a.m. on May 11.
Graffiti
Someone sprayed graffiti on the garage of a home in the 500 block of Dodge Avenue about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Treon Trumaine Corins, 27, of 139 Custer Ave., was arrested at 719 Dobson St. at 3:22 a.m. on Sunday and charged with having an open container of alcohol. He's to appear in court at 9 a.m. on June 15.
Cesario Anthony Cox, 21, of 8409 Drake in Skokie was arrested at 704 Florence Ave. at 2 a.m. on Saturday and charged with disturbing the peace. He's to appear in court at 9 a.m. on May 17.

A caller reported hearing shots fired at 803 Sheridan Road at 3:27 a.m. on Sunday.
A caller reported hearing shots fired at 12:02 a.m. on Sunday in the 1000 block of Dodge Avenue.
A caller reported hearing four or five shots fired at 12:34 a.m. on Sunday in the 900 block of Grey Avenue.
Theft
Someone stole an Apple iPod Touch cell phone from an unlocked locker at Nichols Middle School at 10:04 a.m. on Friday.
Bobbie Alvin Clark, 44, of 7740 S. Normal in Chicago, was arrested at the Dominick's at 1910 Dempster St. at 6:01 p.m. on Thursday and charged with retail theft for allegedly failing to pay for a bottle of Vodka taken from the store. He's due in court at 10:30 a.m. on June 6.
Someone stole a black Apple cell phone from an unlocked gym locker at Evanston Township High School around 2 p.m. on April 21.
Someone stole a T-Mobile cell phone from a classroom at Evanston Township High School between 1:35 and 3:35 p.m. on April 26.
Someone stole a license plate from a 1999 Acura parked in a lot in the 2900 block of Central Street between 5 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. on Friday.
A striped Navy t-shirt was stolen from a store in the 900 block of Church Street at 5:41 p.m. on Friday. The thieves were described as two white males, one 6-foot-4-inch tall weighing 160 pounds, the other 5-feet-4-inches tall and weighing 175 pounds.
Someone grabbed a jar of jellybeans from a sidewalk table in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue at 4:40 p.m. on Sunday.

Vickie Delores Daugherty, 50, of 1142 Oak Ave., was arrested at 1620 Dempster St. at 5:12 p.m. on Friday and charged with a traffic violation. She to appear in court at 9 a.. on May 17.
Christopher Jason Loomis, 37, of 1024 Garnett Place, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and charged with a traffic violation. He's to appear in court on June 8.
Miguel Angel Orduno-Rogel, 25, of 7243 N. Fairfield in Chicago, was arrested at 101 Asbury Ave. at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday and charged with a traffic violation. He's to appear in court at 9 a.m. on May 24.
Terry Williams, 47, of 1458 Chicago Ave., was arrested at 915 Davis St. at 11:34 p.m. on Thursday and charged with a traffic violation. He's to appear in court at 9 a.m. on May 12.
