Traffic mimes to the rescue!

With all the talk about pedestrian safety in Evanston -- including a city-sponsored workshop coming up next Tuesday -- you really need to check out this idea from some of our neighbors to the south in Chicago and the folks at WBEZ.

Traffic mimes! That right, mimes to help pedestrians cross the street and increase driver-awareness of the law that says they're supposed to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks.

More on the traffic mime project and where the idea came from in this story from WBEZ.

Better idea

If you need to pay someone, hire out of work teens. They'll work cheap and be the next generation of patrol boys/girls.

Mimes

If this is working maybe we can hire the mimes, with stop the killing signs in the problem neighborhoods.
