Metra holds planning open house in Evanston

Metra will hold an open house at Evanston's Civic Center Wednesday to get comments from riders and residents on its strategic plan.

City officials say they've worked recently with the CTA to get viaducts replaced and retaining walls repaired in Evanston and hope to work with Metra on similar improvement issues.

Alderman Don Wilson, 4th Ward, notes that Metra and Union Pacific officials toured the Metra infrastructure in Evanston last fall.

Wilson noted that Metra already has a plan in the works to upgrade the Union Pacific North line in Chicago.

"I am happy that they are holding this open house here in Evanston. I highly encourage residents and riders alike to participate,” Wilson added.

The open house will run from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Parasol Room on the fourth floor of the Civic Center at 2100 Ridge Ave.

Residents can also participate in an online survey about Metra  through Aug. 10.

More information about the serious of open houses it has scheduled around the metro area this summer is available here.

Good work Metra--Have a meeting nowhere near a Metra station.

Typical Metra--having a meeting nowhere near a Metra line.  Why couldn't they hold this Downtown? Like at the Library--or even in the station at Davis.
