Theatre sets auditions for 'Merry Kwanzaa'

The Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre will hold an open call for youth age 12 and older and adults for this winter's production of "Merry Kwanzaa."

Auditions will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, in Room 223 at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St. in Evanston.

Those auditioning are asked to bring a photo and a prepared monologue or poem.

This will be Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre's third production of "Merry Kwanzaa," which features a multi-generational and multi-racial cast of Evanston residents. The play, by award-winning playwright Gloria Bond Clunie, is about four generations learning the meaning of love and unity and the power of faith.

The performance will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Fleetwood-Jourdain Center, 1655 Foster St. For more information, call 847/448-8254 and ask for the theatre.
