Political intrigue on the Civic Center lawn

Muse of Fire Theatre Company brings a modern-dress production of "Julius Caesar," Shakespeare's examination of the corrupting influence of political power, to the park behind Evanston's Civic Center this summer.

Performances are at 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays from Aug. 4 through Aug. 19 and again from Sept. 1 through Sept. 9.

The outdoor setting and low-tech approach are designed to make Shakespeare’s plays accessible to all, and nothing like a stuffy English class.

The performances are presented in partnership with the City of Evanston.

Let's give Mayor Ingraham his due!

The "the park behind Evanston's Civic Center" has a name: Ingraham Park.

It is named after Samuel G. Ingraham, a former Evanston mayor.

Let's honor the city's history by remembering Ingraham.  He was a hell of a mayor.
