American Craft Exposition returns to NU

The American Craft Exposition will fill the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion at Northwestern University with the work of more than 160 craftspeople from across the United States.

The event, which benefits ovarian cancer research at NorthShore University HealthSystem, is sponsored by the hospital auxiliary at Evanston and Glenbrook hospitals.

Organizers say the show will include one-of-a-kind pieces, quality collections and uniquely creative artwork.

Objects shown include baskets, ceramics, fiber decorative, fiber wearable, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper and wood crafts.

The event opens with a benefit preview party from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23. Party tickets are $125 and include a three-day pass to the show and all demonstrations. An early collectors’ hour begins at 5:30 p.m., and tickets for that are $175.

Exhibition sale and demonstrations run Friday Aug. 24 through Sunday, Aug. 26. Hourse are 10 am.. to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Exhibition tickets are $15 for adults for a three day pass at the door, with a $2 discount for advance purchase online. Tickets are $5 for children 10 and under.
