Library book sale is Aug. 10-12

Hundreds of “gently-used” books that are no longer needed by the Evanston Public Library will be available for purchase at the library’s annual summer sale, August 10-12.

Rather than tossing them into the landfill, the library sells books that are no longer being checked out by its borrowers, as well as books that are donated by patrons. It then uses the proceeds to help support library services and resources, according to Administrative Services Manager Paul Gottschalk.

Book sale hours on Friday, August 10, and Saturday, August 11, are from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, August 12, all remaining books, CDs, and DVDs, will be sold at half price, from noon until 5:30 p.m.

Patrons wishing to pay five dollars per person will have the opportunity to attend a special preview sale on Friday, August 10, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The sale will be conducted on the third floor of the main library at 1703 Orrington Ave.
