District 65 Strategic Planning Process

Submitted by Mindy Wallis on Thu, 05/08/2008 - 11:31am.

As you may know, District 65 is in the process of developing a Strategic Plan for the District which will be a 5-year plan of action beginning with the 2009-2010 school year.

The process involves developing a mission statement, identifying a set of core belief, and developing a strategic plan with short and long-term goals, including an action plan  and accountability measures. The target end date for the Committee's work is a report to the Board of Education at its October or November 2008 meeting.

Forums are planned for administrators in the summer and teachers and the public in the fall.  However, the draft plan is being written now and now is the time that public input is vitally needed. In the first meeting with facilitator Bill Attea, he indicated that a public forum is usually held in advance of the planning process to solicit the input of all stakeholders.  The public is able to make comments at the beginning of each meeting, and I encourage anyone who wants to have a say in the future of District 65 to come to the meeting on Saturday, May 10 at 9 am and make their voices heard.

On April 26th the Strategic Planning Team voted for the following Mission Statement for District 65:

"Educating each student to succeed and contribute in our global community by cultivating creativity, compassion and the pursuit of excellence."
