Man shot on Emerson

Evanston police say man told them a masked assailant shot him in the leg early this morning.

The incident reportedly happened outside 2011 Emerson St. about 1:19 a.m.

Update 1:30 p.m.:

Police say the victim, an Evanston resident about 23 years old, appeared to have been drinking and initially refused treatment by paramedics for his wound. But they eventually persuaded him agree to be taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police say the man, who was shot in the lower left leg, offered officers little additional information about how the incident occurred.
