Man blasts window with shotgun

Bill SmithThursday, Sep. 18, 2008, at 4:31 pm

An Evanston man is due in court next week after being arrested on firearms charges.

Evanston police say that about 11 p.m. Monday night a 19-year-old man living in the 1900 block of Lee Street told them that a man from the neighborhood who he'd quarreled with earlier in the evening had appeared at his door with a shotgun and had shot out a window in the house before fleeing the area on foot.

Police say they spotted a man matching the description of the suspect nearby in the 900 block of Dodge Avenue and noticed what appeared to be a rifle barrel protruding from his pants.

After a struggle, the officers managed to take the man into custody and recovered a shotgun they say the man had concealed down his pants.

The suspect, who police identified as Randall Etienne Lauture, 24, of 928 A Dodge Ave., faces a variety of charges including unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, aggravated and reckless discharge of a fiream and resisting arrest.

He's scheduled to appear in Skokie district court at 9 a.m. next Thursday, Sept. 25.

How does it get to the point where it's acceptable to resolve a conflict by shooting out your adversary's window with a shotgun? You and I may not accept this, but obviously the culture that these clowns live in certainly does. I support efforts by the city to drive these types out of town. We need to be a bit less tolerant.

I was only kidding. We all know he was not a legal gun owner; he was a felon, and thus could never have been a legal gun owner. This little tiny man can never be associated with the law-abiding gun owners of the USA.

How could he possibly have gotten his dirty little sub-human hands on that shotgun? I have no idea how, but I do know that you'd all better be prepared with "similar tools" just in case other lowlife dirtbags decide they want to pay you a visit in the middle of the day when you just happen to be home sick from work...... Do I have a vivid imagination? Yes. Paranoid? Perhaps. Is this little bit of vividly-imagined paranoia possible? You betcha! Better to be prepared than caught with your pants down. Was I the only Boy Scout in the group? Remember the "be prepared" slogan? Anyone?

*crickets*

Let us all pray - pray (to your favorite God) that this dangerous individual be sent to jail for a very long time (or for life). We don't need any more people in this world who "blast windows" with shotguns after a heated argument. Those life-forms belong in zoos and prisons.

It's up the river for you, Randy!
