Drug raid yields suspected stolen property

Bill SmithWednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at 10:11 am

Evanston police executing a search warrant for drugs last Friday say they found many items they believe were stolen in recent burglaries.

Police arrested two residents of the building they raided at 1904 Emerson St., Rengay Frazier, 36, and Allan Boyland, 42. They're now facing drug and weapons charges.

Police say officers are still inventorying the property recovered in the raid and hope to be able to link the items to reported burglary incidents.

They plan to hold a news conference Thursday morning to display the recovered items, which include flat screen televisions, digital cameras, high-value watches and jewelry, numerous DVD and video games, fur coats, flatware and crystal pieces, laptop computers, cell phones, handguns and shotguns.

Police Commander James Elliot says officers from Skokie and Wilmette and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force have joined forces with Evanston police in dealing with an upsurge in burglaries in the area that began last fall.

Several other arrests have been made as a result of the investigation, but Elliot says investigators are still working on the cases and additional charges may be filed as a result of the recovery of the suspected stolen property.

He says officers will contact victims when individual items have been identified.
