Evanston police say they've arrested a man who was caught on tape stealing a bike from an apartment building in the 2000 block of Sherman Avenue.

Police Commander Tom Guenther says that the man took parts of two bikes to assemble one that he then rode off on about 2 p.m. last Tuesday.

Both nominees to Evanston's Library Board scheduled to be voted on by the City Council tonight have lived in the city for decades.

In the midst of the ongoing controversy over funding for the city's library, Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl has appointed two women to take the place of Library Board members whose terms have expired.

The two new appointees are Sharon L. Arceneaux and Mildred S. Harris. Their appointments are subject to approval by the City Council at its meeting Monday.
