Dorothy Mason. Detail from Pink Lotus at NightThe Evanston Art Walk holds a benefit reception tonight at the Taylor Street Restaurant on Central Street.

The Art Walk features works of nearly four dozen artists displayed at 45 shops along the Central Street business district.

The benefit, at 8 p.m. at the restaurant at 2916 Central St., is open to the public. It features a silent auction of artwork, gift certificates to local shops and restaurants and presentation of awards to participating artists.

There'll be more arts walk events this weekend and the art will remain on display in the shops through the end of the month. More details are available online.

Arts Walk Director Debra Hatchett says the event so far is doing really well, better even than a similar event she organized in Highland Park.

Lynn Bednar of Walsh Natural Health headed up the event for the Central Street Business Association. She says the arts walk has helped bring the merchants group closer together.
