Locavores gather at farm site

Jim MizellWednesday, Jun. 25, 2008, at 10:49 am

Locavore activists with The Talking Farm held a potluck dinner Tuesday to celebrate their new mini-farm site at Twiggs Park in Evanston.

Potluck

The outdoor classroom and demonstration site, set up in partnership with the city, provides about 3,000 square feet of growing space.

Diners

It's a temporary location for teaching techniques and promoting the merits of locally grown food while the group negotiates for a larger more permanent location.

Twig fence

In addition to the plants, the site features a rustic fence built of twigs by Evanston furniture builder Tor Faegre.
