Fourth of July

A flag ceremony will be held at the construction site for Evanston's new Fire Station #5 at 2830 Central St. at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 4.

Evanston's traditional July 4th fireworks celebration will begin at 9:15 p.m. on July 4 at Dawes Park on the lakefront.

The Palatine Concert Band will perform at Dawes Park on the Evanston Lakefront at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 4, preceding the fireworks celebration.

The Evanston Fourth of July Association parade starts at 2 p.m. on July 4th.

Sports and game events from relay races to softball-throwing competitions organized by the city parks department will be held at five locations around Evanston from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 4.
