Progress on animal shelter expansion

Bill SmithMonday, Sep. 08, 2008, at 3:40 am

The City Council this evening is scheduled to approve a contract with an architect to design expanded facilities for the Evanston Animal Shelter.

City staff is recommending that the contract for $117,000 be awarded to Elliot Dudnk & Associates of Evanston, which a staff review committee judged to be the most qualified of the seven bidders for the work.

The cost of the $1 million project for the shelter on Oakton Street is being split between the city and the non-profit Community Animal Rescue Effort, whose volunteers handle much of the shelter's operation.
