How do I register?

  1. Find the "Login/Register" link in the main navigation bar near the top of the screen.
  2. Click on that link, which will take you to the "User account" page.
  3. On the "User account" page, click on the tab that says "Create new account."
  4. Choose your "Username." If you wish to be a real-name user -- which gives you the option to post event listings and stories -- be sure to use your real name as your username. (You can include a space between your first and last names.) If you only plan to post comments on stories and forum topics, you may use a pseudonym or handle for your username instead.)
  5. Provide the rest of the requested information.
  6. When you're done, click the "Create new account" button at the bottom of the page.
  7. If the system reports data entry errors, fix them and click "Create new account" again.
  8. When the information is submitted successfully, you will receive the confirmation message "Your password and further instructions have been sent to your e-mail address."
  9. Go check your e-mail to retrieve the password you will need to log in.
  10. Copy the password from the e-mail message to your clipboard and use the link in the e-mail message to return to the Evanston Now site.
  11. Type your user name into the login form and paste in your password from the clipboard.
  12. Once you're logged in you may want to click the "Edit" tab on the user account page and change your password to something you can easily remember.
