Best neighborhoods for garden walks?

Jan SmithWednesday, Jun. 11, 2008, at 10:49 am

Lots of people devote lots of time, money, and energy to their gardens -- not to be part of a formal garden tour, but just for the joy of it.
What are the best blocks to stroll and enjoy beautiful and creative front yard gardens?

Don't get me wrong. I appreciate gardens and finely manicred lawns, like the next guy. But, I throw in the architecture and ambience in my "strollability" quotient.

. I think of stories of Evanston of yesteryear. ( i.e 'Did General Dawes mow his own lawn ?' Did women in the Womens Christian Temperance League wear bonnets and bloomers when cutting their roses?' etc. )
In this expanded category, I submit the following area:
1. Judson on the West
2. Dawes Park on the East
3. Greenwood on the south
4. Church on the north
